Russian couple Nadezhda and Rustem Muhametzyanovy won 29 million rubles (around $440,000) in national lottery but spent it all in just five years on alcohol and by lending money to friends and even paying their credit debts. They later told the press the money didn’t bring them any happiness at all.

19. Lost It Paying Taxes

That may sound like a cautionary tale, but it’s true. Ex-Waffle House employee Tonda Lynn Dickerson got the lucky ticket and won $10 million. Even though all of the employees agreed to split it if one of them won, she refused to share her fortune. And later lost everything to IRS after she “forgot” to pay her taxes.
