From 2004 through 2008 she was a Member of Parliament in the Canadian House of Commons and later switched from being a Conservative to become a Liberal.

Alina Kabaeva was a celebrity in Russia long before her association with mister Putin. She’s a retired rhythmic gymnast and a Russian Honored Master of Sports.
