Married With Children proved that bad publicity is the best publicity. During the show’s third season run, a family values activist Terry Rakolta got so bothered with the show that she started writing letters to the sponsors demanding them to withdraw their sponsorship. Series ratings didn’t drop at all: all the press helped increase it.

It was Katey Sagal’s own idea to dress her character in ’60s-inspired outfits since she would be mocking the wholesome image of ’60s housewife that way. She even brought the props for her yet-to-be-iconic look to the audition.
